The Baby Show Review 2018

So we decided to be brave and carry out a second trip to the Baby Show! This time with me being 32 weeks pregnant and involving a drive of over an hour and a half up to Birmingham. Dangerous idea to go again when there are so many wonderful products tempting you to buy- but I must say we were good and only brought what we set out to buy. We do however, have a list of items we shall be looking into buying having seen them at the show, some of which for a second time.

The drive to the show as I’m sure some of you can understand was uncomfortable and it is a very long day carrying round a small growing human in you but it is worth it.

We were very fortunate to have been invited to a bloggers breakfast at the baby show, being hosted by the Natural Birthing Company who were launching several new products at the show.  This I must say was the highlight of my day! Who can turn down yummy cakes and drink, alongside meeting some lovely parents and finding out about some fantastic products. We were even joined by creator Jane who spoke through all their existing products and the new ones coming out. She also made a great effort spending time with each of the parent bloggers and answering any of their questions.  As this was such a special part of the day it deserves it’s own series of posts dedicated to the products.

After the breakfast it was time to go and explore the stalls. Fortunately we attended first thing on the Friday so we could navigate the stalls easily. Having said that the stalls at the NEC had more room around them compared to at the Excel centre so would have been much easier to navigate with a pram. The show is child friendly for those that want to take their children. There are lots of areas to sit down and rest, a breastfeeding area, a balloon artist, ride on vehicles as well as some company’s making a real effort to engage with the children. As a mum to be buying products I also liked the free shop and drop feature saving you from carrying all your goodies around with you, and allows you to collect your buys with your car.

Having wandered around for a bit we then had the chance to attend the Red Cross Baby First Aid session. I would recommend this to any parent, new and old, to people who already have paediatric first aid knowledge or people without. It was a great short course providing a simple explanation on how to treat your baby when choking, having convulsions and for burns. They also have a free app available in to download now from the app store which advises you with written and pictorial support on how to deal with a range of situations.

There is just so much to write up about the visit to the Baby Show and I shall endeavour to do my best over the coming weeks to share as much in sight into some of the brands advertised there.

I must also say a big thank you to the PR Company behind the Baby Show and a big thank you for the goodie bag with even more items for me to review. I am very grateful for the experience you have given me as a new mum trying to navigate such a very overwhelming baby market.

To any mum to be or recent mum I would advise if you are near enough one of the venues (NEC, Excel, or Olympia) and the timing is right go and visit the show, you will learn so much, see so much and gain a better idea of what you would like even if you don’t buy at the show.

The next show will be on the weekend of the 19th October 2018.
